The Flint 700 Club held
its annual Kick Off Tournament on Sunday, September 17th, 2006 at
Fenton Lanes in Fenton, Michigan. The tournament attracted 80 bowlers, a
decrease
of 32 bowlers from last season when the tournament was held at
Galaxy Bowl and attracted 112 bowlers. Bowlers were paired with a doubles partner after check in was
completed, by last season's highest average. Bowlers were paired by
computer pick with high average and low average until the 40 teams were
paired. Because the tournament rules call for 1 in 8 entries cashing the
top 5 teams cashed in this tournament. The winning team was Darryl
McGhee and Gary Voorheis with an actual score of 1393 which included a 779
actual series by Darryl McGhee, Gary Voorheis chipped in with a 614 actual series. The win was worth $182.50 each to
Darryl and Gary. The 2nd place team was Matt Pray and Robert Richardson with a 1316
actual score. Robert Richardson led the 2nd place team with a 684 series.
Third place went to Dale Norrington and Matt VanEtten with a score of 1313, 4th place was
Bill Hinderer and Troy Stamm, 5th place team and low in the money was John
Williams and Robert DeGraff Jr. with a score of 1284 which was worth $61 a
piece. The prize fund for this tournament was over $1200 and was better than
last year's kick-off event because the Flint 700 Club raised the price of
each tournament to $20. Jesse Storey led all women in the tournament with a
668 series which also included the high women's game of the tournament
of 246. Daryyl McGhee led all bowlers in the tournament with a
290 game and a 779 actual series. There was a total of (4) 700 series bowled in this years
tournament. They were Darryl McGhee (779), Keith Cross (733), John Wade
(716) and Bill Hinderer (716). The next
700 Club Tournament is the State Jamboree which is a 4 person team
tournament, that will be held in Flint, Michigan this year on Sunday, October
22nd at Town & Country Lanes. Entries will be available in local bowling centers and also
on this website, the cost is $60 per team. Click on the links below to see
