The Flint 700 Club held
its annual Kick Off Tournament on Sunday, September 25th, 2005 at
Galaxy Lanes in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The tournament attracted 112 bowlers, an increase
of 20 bowlers from last season when the tournament was held at
Nightingale Lanes and attracted 92 bowlers. Bowlers were paired with a doubles partner after check in was
completed, by last season's highest average. Bowlers were paired by
computer pick with high average and low average until the 56 teams were
paired. Because the tournament rules call for 1 in 10 entries cashing the
top 6 teams cashed in this tournament. The winning team was Kevin
Dyer and Mike Ashby with an actual score of 1371 which included a 709
actual series by Kevin Dyer, Mike Ashby chipped in with a 662 actual series. The win was worth $142.50 each to
Kevin and Mike. The 2nd place team was Mike Martin and John Purcell with a 1354
actual score. Mike Martin led the 2nd place team with a 727 series which
included a 287 game, the highest game of the tournament. Third place went to
Keith Lajaala and Robert Richardson with a score of 1339, 4th place was
Willie Brown and Mike Wiser, 5th place team was Scott Gruener and Chrissy
Brady with a score of 1323 and low in the money and tied for 6th place were
Paul Willis and Lanny Whitman and Darrell Craw and Brad McGeathy with a
score of 1320. Chrissy Brady led all women in the tournament with a 275 game
and a 693 series. Randy Tompkins led all bowlers in the tournament with a
758 actual series. There was a total of (8) 700 series bowled in this years
tournament. The next
700 Club Tournament is the State Jamboree which is a 4 person team
tournament, that will be held in Ann Arbor, Michigan this year on Sunday, October 30th. Entries will be available in local bowling centers and also
