2003 Kick Off Tournament Recap

The Flint 700 Club held its annual Kick Off Tournament on Sunday, September 21st, 2003 at Town and Country Lanes in Flint, Michigan. The tournament attracted 112 bowlers, a slight decrease from last season when the tournament was held at Galaxy Lanes. Bowlers were paired with a doubles partner after check in was completed, by last season's highest average. Bowlers were paired by computer pick with high average and low average until the 56 teams were paired. Because the tournament rules call for 1 in 10 entries cashing the top 6 teams cashed in this tournament. This years winning team was Nick Rock and Chrissy Brady who led the field with a 1352 actual doubles score. Nick Rock shot games of 265, 275 and 197 for a 737 series and Chrissy Brady had games of 201, 244 and 170 for a 615 series. The tournament produced (5) 700 series with Clyde Cooper leading the field with games of 226, 279, 236 for a 741 series. Clyde's 279 game was also the high game of the tournament. Clyde's big series was still not enough for him and his partner to cash as they shot 1267 and low in the money was 1273. The other bowlers shooting 700 series were: Ron Moughler (735), Randy Tompkins (708), and Corey miller (704). Harry Lewis also shot a 278 game. The next 700 Club Tournament is the State Jamboree which is a 4 person team tournament, that will be held in Monroe, Michigan this year at the Monroe Sports Center.
