Flint 700 Club Crowns Champions for
860 Team Kickoff Tournament!
The Flint 700 Club held
its annual Kick Off Tournament on Sunday, September 25th, 2011 at
Town & Country Lanes in Flint, Michigan. The tournament
attracted 136 bowlers (34 teams) a decrease of 24 bowlers from last
season when the tournament was held at Grand Blanc Lanes. Bowlers
were pre registered for the 4 man team with an 860 average cap. This was the
5th
year for this format for the kick off tournament and this format appears
to still be popular with the bowlers. The winning team for the
tournament was crowned tournament champions and then the field was cut
to the top 16 teams and they bowled a Baker Elimination match of 20
frames. The winning team in the Baker Roll Off format was awarded an
extra $200 for winning the roll off but will not be known as the
tournament champions, only the roll off champions. The winning team was
David Beebe, Keth Lajalla, Stephanie Miller & Corey Miller. They were
the only team to shoot over 2700 in the tournament and ended with
a 2753 total with handicap to win the tournament by 62 pins over the
team of Karen Lutze, Tim Lutze, Scott Boyer and Karen Boyer. The win was worth
$412 for the team as the tournament prize fund was just over $1600
for the entire tournament. Low in the money and in 5th place was the
team of Tony Hill, April Voorheis, Damonde Griggs & Daryl McGhee, they will
split $256 for finishing 5th and winning the Baker roll. There were a total of (7) 700
series in the tournament with Daryl McGhee leading the actual series
with a 747. Keith Cross had the high game of the tournament with a 280
game and Corey Miller had a 279 game for the winning team. April Voorheis had the
high women's game of the tournament with a 224 game and also tied
Melissa Smith with a 624 actual series to lead the women.
The next 700 Club Tournament is the State Jamboree which is a 4 person
team tournament, that will be held in Ann Arbor, Michigan this year on Sunday,
October 23rd. Entries are available in local bowling
centers and also on this website.
