Flint 700 Club Crowns Champions for
850 Team Kickoff Tournament!
The Flint 700 Club held
its annual Kick Off Tournament on Sunday, September 28th, 2008 at
Colonial Lanes in Flushing, Michigan. The tournament attracted 152 bowlers
(38 teams), a
increase of 24 bowlers from last season when the tournament was held at
Nightingale Lanes. Bowlers were pre registered for
the 4 man team with an 850 average cap. This was the 2nd year for this
new format for the kick off
tournament and was limited to the first 40 entries. The winning team for the
tournament was crowned tournament champions and then the field was cut to
the top 10 teams and they bowled a Baker Elimination match of 20 frames. The
winning team in the Baker Roll Off format was awarded an extra $200 for
winning the roll off but will not be known as the tournament champions, only
the roll off champions. The winning team was Walker Thorton, John Kunder,
Bill Hinderer and Rory Kalanquin. The team had a total of 2758 which included 2722
actual. Rory Kalanquin led the team with a 289 game in a 739 series and Bill
Hinderer contributed a 712 series. The win
was worth $349 for the 4 bowlers to split. The 2nd place team was
Susan Fisackerly, Scott Fisackerly, Derek Fisackerly and Michael
Fisackerly with a
score of 2756 which included 2657 actual. Derek Fisackerly led the 2nd place team with a 710 actual
series. Second place was worth $313. Low in the money and in 10th
place, was a team
score of 2566 and was worth $36 that had to be split between 2 teams that
tied for the final spot. The 8th Place team of Jake
Spalding, Jason Balcom, Ralph Bieber and Todd Bieber went on to win the Baker
Roll Off Finals and the extra $200 in prize money beating out the
tournaments high qualifying team of John Kunder, Walker Thorton, Bill
Hinderer and Rory Kalanquin with a 392 to 387 victory in the 2 Baker
games. The prize fund for this tournament was over $1800 and was better
than last year's kick-off event because of the increase in entries.
Rolonda Brown
led all women in the tournament with a 269 game in a 665 series. Rory Kalanquin led the men for actual game with a 289 game and
Aaron McGee led the actual series for men with a 779 set. There was a total of (8) 700 series bowled in this years
tournament. They were Duane Elston (753), Aaron McGee (779), Rory Kalanquin
(739), Michael Helzer (721), Robert Eagan (716), Bill Hinderer (712),
Derek Fisackerly (710), Steven Miller (701). The next
700 Club Tournament is the State Jamboree which is a 4 person team
tournament, that will be held in Monroe, Michigan this year on Sunday, October
26th. The State Jamboree is being hosted by the Monroe 700 Club. Entries will be available in local bowling centers and also
