| The Flint 700 Club held its' 16th
annual Trio Tournament on Sunday, March 7th, 2009 at Grand Blanc Lanes in
Grand Blanc, Michigan. This years tournament attracted a total of 59 teams, a
decrease of
29 teams from last years tournament that was held at Grand Blanc. This years
trio tournament champions were Rick Ayers, Don Hulsether and Derek Inman with a winning score of 2149 with handicap. The team shot
2101 actual as Don Hulsether led the team with a 794 actual series
which included a 279 last game. Derek Inman shot 665 actual and Rick Ayers
contributed a 642
actual series to the teams winning score. The team needed its' 48 pins
of handicap as they were the only team that shot over 2100 actual and they
won the tournament by 18 pins. The tournament's runner up team
consisted of Matt Doane, Bob Forshee and Matt Kelly. The threesome had 2131
total with
handicap. The handicap for
this tournament is based on 100%
difference of the teams average from 645. The 2nd place team shot 2008
actual and benefited from 123 pins of handicap. The 2nd place team was led
by Matt Doane who had 688 actual and Matt Kelly had 687 actual. The
third place team consisted of Anthony Kelly, Donald Younger Sr and
Jeff West, they shot 2107 with handicap. Anthony Kelly
led the 3rd place team with a 771 actual series and Jeff West contributed
a 671 actual series. Low in the money was a 2016 score in 9th place which
earned Eric Streeter, Aaron Grondin and Scott Fisackerly $60 to split 3 ways.
Nevelle Kirby led the tournament with an 823
actual series which included a 299 and a 300 game. The high woman's game of
the tournament was a 236 game shot by Angie Ridley in a 614 series. The high
women's series of the tournament was shot by April Voorheis who had 666
actual. The tournament's final
standings will determe who the 2009-2010 Flint 700 Club Man & Woman Bowler
of the Year was. The bowler of the year results will be available in the
next few weeks.
The Trio Tournament produced a total of (14) 700 series, 9 on the first
squad and 5 on the 2nd squad. It also
produced (1) 300 game, and a 299 game by Nevelle Kirby. The total prize fund was over $2000
with the top 9 teams
cashing in the tournament and the winning threesome bagging $420. The final standings, pay-out list, and individual scores can
be found in the links below. The 2009-2010
season has been completed for the Flint 700 Club but there is still one
more tournament, the National 700 Club Tournament which will be held at
Galaxy Lanes in Grand Blanc in early June. Check the links
on this site for more information, the final deadline to turn in entries
for the National tournament is May 31st, don't miss out.
