Tournament Champion!

The Flint 700 Club held it's annual singles tournament at Richfield Bowl for the

first time in 7 years on Sunday, January 17th, 2009. The 

tournament attracted a total of 180 bowlers, a decrease of 27 bowlers

from last years tournament that was held at Grand Blanc Lanes. The tournament

was won by Kevin Dyer  who had games of 232, 287 and 278 for 797 actual series.

Kevin ended up 10 pins in front of Lenny Gladding who shot 787 actual and won the

201 to 214 division. Lenny's big series was helped by a 299 game.

The 2nd place finisher in the 214 and over division was Paul Satkowiak who had

a 300 game in a 782 actual series.

The win by Dyer was worth $155 in prize money as the prize list paid

down 8 places in the 215 and up division with a low in the money score

of 750 actual by Michael Blaque. The tournament produced 31 series of 700

or higher which was 9 more than last years tournament.

Paul Satkowiak won the Greg Haus Memorial Award for the highest

actual game of the Singles Tournament with a 300 game.

The high actual women's series of the tournament and Mary Klein

award winner went to Sarah Hillier who shot 768 actual and finished 3rd

in the 215 and over division. The high women's game of the tournament was also shot

by Sarah Hillier with a 268 actual game.

The Granddaddy Award Winner this year was Michael Blaque who shot 750 actual to

finish in 8th place in the 215 and over division.

Other winners in the tournament included Diane Venegas who won the

179 and under division with a 574 actual series which was worth $59. In the

180 to 189 division Rick Gould was the winner with a 705 actual series

which was worth $118. The 180 to 189 division paid 3 places. Also

cashing was Ryan Whalen with a 674 series that was worth $71 and Jessica

Reynolds who finished 3rd with a 667 series that was worth $47.

In the 190 to 200 division Larry Gustufson was the winner with a 714 series that

was worth $123. The 190 to 200 division paid down 5 places. Others that

cashed in this division included Fred Cooper with a 699 actual, Robert Wilson

with a 680 actual, David Yanta with a 672 actual, and William Boyd with a 666 actual

series.

In the 201 to 214 average division Lenny Gladding won the division with a 787

actual series beating out Derek Fisackerly who had a 773 actual and Walker Thorton

with 738 and Paul Grondin with 735. This division paid down 8 spots with low in the

money being 716 by Danny Tucker.

This tournament also was the annual election for a new 700 club officer.

Doug Warren won the election to become the newest member of

the 700 Club board and his duties will begin with the 700 Club National

Tournament in May.

The scores from this tournament will be sent to the national 700 club

to compare scores with other 700 clubs from across the nation for 

national awards.

The next 700 Club tournament is the Trio Tournament which will 

be held at Richfield Bowl on Sunday March 2nd, 2008, the 

entry form for this tournament can be found on this website and in local

bowling centers in the Flint area.
