The Flint 700 Club held it's annual singles tournament at Grand Blanc

Lanes for the 4th year in a row on Sunday, January 22nd, 2006. The 

tournament attracted a total of 193 bowlers, a decrease of 37 bowlers

from last years tournament. The tournament was won by Arnold Brown 

who had games of 252, 268 and 235 for 755 actual. Brown ended up

7 pins in front of 2nd squad winner Steve Cooper who shot 748 actual.

The win by Brown was worth $198 in prize money as the prize list paid

down 14 places in the 201 and up division with a low in the money score

of 696 actual by Kevin Dyer. The tournament produced 10 series of 700

or higher which was 8 less than last years tournament. Arnold Brown also

won the Gerald Puckett Grandaddy Award for the highest series by a bowler

55 years and older. The high game of the tournament was a 290 game shot

by Matt Pray. 

The high actual women's series of the tournament and Mary Klein

award winner went to Stephanie Tipton who shot 667 actual. The high

women's game of the tournament was shot by Karen Lutze who had a

279 game in a 632 series.

Other winners in the tournament included James Swearingen who won the

179 and under division with a 567 actual series which was worth $78. In the

180 to 189 division Robert Bowlin was the winner with a 687 actual series

which was worth $102. The 180 to 189 division paid down 3 places. Also

cashing were Matt Vanetten with 631 and Mike Monroe with 616.

In the 190 to 200 division Jerry Weld, was the winner with a 685 series that

was worth $144. The 190 to 200 division paid down 6 places. Others that

cashed in this division included Robert Richardson with a 661actual, Richard

Tokar with a 656 actual, Melissa McGrath with a 633 actual, Brian Young

with a 631 actual and Jan Combs with a 631 actual.

This tournament also was the annual election for a new 700 club officer.

Phil Venagas won the election to become the newest member of

the 700 Club board and his duties will begin with the 700 Club National

Tournament in May.

The scores from this tournament will be sent to the national 700 club

to compare scores with other 700 clubs from across the nation for 

national awards.

30 days of the close of the tournament.

The next 700 Club tournament is the Trio Tournament which will 

be held at Town and Country Lanes on Sunday March 5th, 2006, the 

entry form for this tournament can be found on this website and in local

bowling centers in the Flint area.
