The Flint 700 Club held it's annual singles tournament at Grand Blanc Lanes for the 3rd year in a row on Sunday, January 16th, 2005. The tournament attracted a total of 230 bowlers, an increase of 28 bowlers from last years tournament. The tournament was won by Chris Brady who had games of 256, 246 and 247 for 749 actual. Brady ended up 11 pins in front of 2nd squad winner Corey Miller who shot 738 actual. Miller won the 700 Club annual kick-off tournament back in September. The win by Brady was worth $229 in prize money as the prize list pay down 17 places in the 201 and up division with a low in the money score of 697 actual. The tournament produced 18 series of 700 or higher including a 732 actual series by Elmer Roberts which won him the Gerald Puckett Grandaddy Award for the highest series by a bowler 55 years and older. The 732 series was good for 3rd place finish in the final standings. The high game of the tournament was a 300 game shot by Charles Hall which helped him to a 726 actual series and a 7th place finish in the final standings. The high actual women's series of the tournament and Mary Klein award winner went to Kathy McGaughy who shot 664 actual. The high women's game of the tournament was shot by Nancy Clark who had a 249 game in a 642 series. Other winners in the tournament included Wes Snider who won the 179 and under division with a 653 actual series. In the 180 to 189 division Todd Weld was the winner with a 670 actual series. In the 190 to 200 division Al Long, Sr, was the winner with a 705 series to outpace Terry Gorham with a 702 and JC Smith who shot 701 actual. This tournament also was the annual election for a new 700 club officer. Apparently winning the tournament was not the only good thing for Chris Brady, he also won the election to become the newest member of the 700 Club board and his duties will begin with the 700 Club National Tournament in May. Finishing in 2nd place in votes was Susan Fisackerly for the 2nd year in a row. The scores from this tournament will be sent to the national 700 club to compare scores with other 700 clubs from across the nation for national awards.
