700 CLUB 2007 "430" DOUBLES TOURNAMENT RESULTS

The Flint 700 Club held their 6th annual "430" Doubles Tournament on Sunday, December 7th at Nightingale Lanes. The tournament attracted 121 doubles teams this year a increase of 16 teams compared to last years tournament that was held at Colonial Lanes. The winning Doubles Team was Will Boyd and Ethan Cross with a 1444 total. Ethan Cross led the doubles team with a 279 game and a 752 actual series. Will Boyd supplied a 278 game in a 662 actual series for an actual total of 1414. The doubles team received 30 pins of handicap for the series based on their 420 entering average which made their total winning score 1444. The second place team was Nick Weidenhammer and his dad Chuck Weidenhammer with a 1443 total that included a 742 actual series from Nick, Nick also had the highest game of the tournament in that set with a 300 game. Nick's dad supplied a 541 series to the second place finishers. The high series by a woman in the tournament was Stephanie Tipton with a 711 actual which included a 266 game which was also the highest women's game of the tournament and was matched by Melissa Smith. Boyd/Cross & Stephanie Tipton/John Wade were the only 2 doubles team to shoot over 1400 actual in the tournament. The first place doubles team will receive $442 total and second place will receive $383.

 In all the tournament paid out $2942 in prize money. Low in the money was 18th place with a score of 1339.  In all there were 14 series of 700 or better for the entire tournament. The high individual scorer of the tournament was Justin Crosby who had the high actual series of 801 which included a 296 game, but the high actual game of tournament was the 300 game by Nick Weidenhammer.  Rick McKee was the individual scoring leader of the 1st squad with a 758 actual series and Justin Crosby led the 2nd squad. The next 700 club tournament will be held on January 18th, 2009 at Richfield Bowl, this is the annual singles tournament and scores from this tournament will be sent to nationals to determine a national champion.
