700 CLUB 2004 425 DOUBLES TOURNAMENT

 
The Flint 700 Club held their 2nd annual 425 doubles tournament on Sunday, December 5th at Colonial Lanes in Flushing, Michigan. The tournament attracted 127 doubles teams this year an increase of 5 teams compared to last years tournament that was held at Nightingale Lanes. Bowlers where allowed to switch partners after the first squad as long as the 2 bowlers average did not exceed the 425 limit. The winning doubles team this year was Jim and Dan Ham who totaled 1463 with handicap to take home the $423 top prize. Jim Ham led the doubles team with a 697 actual and Dan supplied a 676 actual. The team was helped out by 90 pins of handicap. The 2nd place finishers in this years tournament were Derek Smith and Jason Ashley with a 1404 score that was worth $376 in prize money. Third place finishers were Rob & Pam Ploof with a score of 1400. In all the tournament paid out $2353 in prize money. Low in the money was 13th place with a score of 1359.  In all there were 14 series of 700 or better for the entire tournament. The high individual scorer of the tournament was Matt Tabor who had the high actual game of 288 and the high actual series of 787. Matt's big scores helped him and his partner Gary Hostetler to a 1385 score and a 9th place finish. The individual scoring leader of the 2nd squad was George Calvert Jr. who shot a 777 actual series which included a 279 game. The next 700 club tournament will be held on January 16th, 2005 at Grand Blanc Lanes, this is the annual singles tournament and scores from this tournament will be sent to nationals to determine a national champion.
